Things I've done this week:
- This week, I created a concept document and set up workspaces to document my progress and ideas. I also built a Notion page to organize my production plan, timeline, and backlog. According to the plan, I'll be entering the prototyping phase next week.
- I’ve just started experimenting with clay art this weekend and have made the first character—the game's protagonist, Id. I’m a bit unsure about the character design, but after some image processing, it looks okay.
A few other concerns I have:
- I’ve never made clay characters with Plastilina before—only with air-hardening clay, and I wasn’t particularly skilled at it—so I’m slightly worried about the time it will take and the quality of my work. I think sketching a character concept beforehand would help, but before that, I need a clearer understanding of this character’s role in the game’s world and fiction.
- I worry that my plan might be too detailed, making it difficult to follow exactly. I’ll need to see how things unfold as I go and whether I can realistically stick to the deadlines I’ve set for myself.
- I’ve realized that I need to define a clearer working narrative as soon as possible. The story serves as the skeleton of the game, and having a solid narrative foundation will help guide the art direction and material experimentation.
Now that my production vision is clearer, I really hope to spend more time next week exploring ideas with different materials in a more playful, fun way. I left little time for clay experimentation today, and it wasn’t as exciting as I’d hoped, perhaps because I kind of rushed the process.
